Using the excuse that he never read a 1957 watchtower as proof that he
didn't know what "spiritual warfare" is, was in itself an example of
"spiritual warfare". Also, comparing the act of reporting pedophiles to
the local authorities, with the turning over of ones fellow
congregation members to Hitler during time of war, is another example of
"spiritual warfare". His answers were purposely evasive and he used
them as a smoke screen to avoid answering the questions put before him
directly. This is proof that he knew exactly what he was doing.

Theocratic warfare. Great video
by stuckinarut2 inwe all recall the appalling example of vin toole during the australian royal commission when he was questioned about"theocratic warefare".
here is a great video that shows how the society has used, and in turn tried to lie about "theocratic warfare".

Confession: I, Safecracker
by TerryWalstrom ini, safe cracker _______________.
this is one story i doubt i’ve told before.
for obvious reasons…it was 1969; the place, fort worth; the location, the star-telegram building in downtown fort worth, and i was a lowly janitor working for $1.60 an hour on the midnight to 8 am shift.you might wonder what a tall, good-looking 22-year-old was doing struggling at a no-future employment for slave wages.

It would have been easy enough for anyone to have figured out who cleaned the office and I'm sure you'd have cracked under the pressure when they lined everyone up and questioned them. Besides, I'm sure they'd have gotten your finger prints off the dial and you'd have been back in the slammer only this time it would be justified. What if old man Kuykendahl keeled over with a coronary when he discovered you had taken all of his employees payroll money? What if someone else were blamed instead of you.
Doing the right thing is never stupid no matter how tempting it might be to rationalize doing the wrong thing.

JW renaming things: "It's Not this, it's ....."
by Muddy Waters inthis was brought up in another thread, but i thought it should have its own thread.
feel free to add your own observations and experience.
the jws are so duplicit, and they rename things to somehow justify their own irrationalities.

It's not a flip-flop of our beliefs or a contradiction of everything we've called the truth for the last 100 years, it's an adjustment, it's new light just when we needed it most.
It's not materialism...It's Jehovah blessing us for our efforts. He's "adding all these other things to us" for putting him first.
We're not soliciting Church membership or looking for new recruits, we're inviting honest hearted ones who are sighing and crying, to study our literature and attend our meetings, build their lives around our religion and get baptized but only after first acknowledging that they now identify themselves as Jehovah's Witnesses.

"It never ceases to amaze me how they can condemn christendom for certain practices for many years or even decades and then inexplicably they are engaging in the very same practices they once condemned ?"
Mark my words.... one of these days, they're going to start having Bake sales, Rummage sales and even Bingo at the Kingdom Halls to raise money and they'll shoehorn certain bible passages to make it all seem scriptural.

Am I selfish?
by Jules Saturn intonight i had an argument with both my parents.
my parents are aware of my feelings towards the organization, and it saddens them because i am their first born son.
they had high expectations of me, my father dreamt of him and i serving together as elders.

Parent's naturally have their own ideas about how things will be when their children are grown but if their happiness and their relationship with their child hinges on having the child do as THEY want him or her to do, the parent is being selfish. They are thinking of how the child's actions or decisions make THEM feel and what reward THEY are getting out of it.
A father who want's his Son to be the star athlete on the school team for example, often thinks he is thinking of his son and the fun he will have or the skills he will acquire etc. More often than not, he is trying to relive his own life through the son or perhaps trying to make up for something lacking in himself or using the child's success to bolster his own ego. Having you become an Elder was your fathers dream. He may have had your best interest at heart but you can be sure there's a lot of his own ego involved as well. On some level he's likely thinking of how HE will be viewed, because of your becoming an Elder.

I'm sure both of the people who were interviewed, gave an accurate accounting of their story but as is so often the case, "outsiders" just don't get the subtleties of the religion the way we do and consequently, their report was a bit off.
I think there was enough information presented for the average JW to put two and two together and know what happened but they'll likely choose to chalk it all up to "Apostate lies".
Even though the story was a bit skewed, articles like this one are an embarrassment to JW's even if the average "worldly" person will ignore it or will forget about it 5 minutes later.
The main thing is that the public is little by little being made aware of the practice of shunning and the ban on the use of blood for medical purposes. In the past, former JW's were voiceless and had to fade by the thousands into the wild blue yonder.

Ran into my brother at a concert; first time I've seen him in years......
by dubstepped inmy wife and i went to a concert on friday night.
there was a friend of ours there doing security, and she happens to be an exjw too.
she sent me a message on messenger to inform me that my brother and his wife were at the show, not knowing that i'd be there too.

The end of the world is right around the corner yet there they were taking time out to attend the same "worldly" music event with you and all of the rest of the non JW audience. They were outnumbered and their JW reasonings for shunning you must have seemed pretty feeble at that moment. I'm guessing that's what the red faces were all about.
Call it vanity if you will but there's something very satisfying about having your former JW friends and family see you doing well and carrying on with your life normally rather than it having become the "train wreck" they had expected or even may have hope for, on some level.

Trump son-in-law Kushner denies collusion with Russia - Just A crazy thought or two.
by WHATSGOINGON inokay so jared kushner will probably be thoroughly investigated maybe he already has been.. they will look at all of his business dealings, who he was worked with over the last few years.. who sold him all of their properties - we know the answer to that.
wt.. will the u.s government also investigate watchtower as well - we shall see.
you never know what will happen.. i can see a private investigation who knows what they will uncover.. just a thought.. wgo..
-

I would be curious to see what (if anything) might be uncovered in his recent purchases of the Watchtower properties.
It's curious that the Russian JW's are suddenly under ban just after Kushner purchased their properties and is now accused of having illegal dealings with the Russian Government.

To Fade or Disassociate
by Jules Saturn inhello to all, so i did want to talk about this topic because i think it is very important to me.
i have a grandfather who faded several decades ago.
he occasionally attends an assembly and the memorial but no longer attends meetings or goes on field service.
-

With Fading you get the best of both worlds if you want it and the satisfaction of knowing that you are controlling the situation and are befuddling their little power plays .
With Disassocating, you get to have your say and go down in a blaze of glory which would probably feel good, be more impressive and dramatic but I'm not a big fan of "burning bridges" unnecessarily. It's good to have options in life and be able to pick and choose your next move rather than have them cut off.
